The Band: Scott, Dave and Karl
The band "The Bus Stop Boys" consists of Karl, Scott and Dave. The band has been performing together since last year and rehearse every Thursday.
Karl is both talented on the guitar and with percussion. Over the past few months he has been working hard at learning the drums.
Scott is the piano player in the band. He’s been playing for almost two years and has lessons at Nordoff Robbins weekly. Scott is known to play a lot of solos and lead melodies; a total of 6 songs this year. Scott has brought to the band a wide variety of music, often assisting the band in its direction and arrangement of songs.
David is one of the founding members of the band. David is a talented musician on the electric guitar, creating crisp solos and providing some back up singing where possible. David’s music knowledge assists the band greatly week to week.
The band had the opportunity of performing at Afford's yearly talent show in August this year. After choosing two songs as a group the band rehearsed and excelled in their playing as a group rather than solo performers. The band decided to perform ‘Faith’ by George Michael and ‘Fire and the Flood’ by Vance Joy. Both songs performed with no backing tracks and in front of an audience of 380 people.
David took to the stage with his electric guitar, Scott on the keys and Karl on both acoustic guitar and the djembe. All three men stepped up to the challenge and had a perfect performance.
More recently the band has been working towards recording some tracks. Each band member chose a song to learn and play as a band. Scott; ‘Monsters and Men’ by Little talks, David; ‘Fall at your feet’ by Crowded House and Karl; ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ by INXS. The band has progressed and learnt all three songs, each song allowing for a solo or moment to stand out.
"It has been a pleasure performing with these fine young men. Looking forward to more music and bigger things to come next year as the band continues to develop " - Alex Hocking - Music Therapist.
